Welcome back to school!!! As our first month is behind us, we can finally take a breath and look back at what we have done in this first month and see our successes and failures. Malery, Anthony and I have started our powder puff shenanigans and we will be a lot more organized than last year. We had about 798,432 girls sign up (lol, it was close to 150) and clearing them all is going to be a pain in the arse, but it’s really okay. The more the merrier, right? We have discussed all the crews that we need for the game and have brainstormed who we should ask for the different positions. And we won’t forget the flags this year either.
I am in the Sports Relations committee for my standing committee. Malery and I are the leaders of the Sports Relations committee, with Laila, Royce, Natalie and Anthony in support, and we will help the legend Rodney Wright in any way he needs. Last year we hung some sponsor banners, but I don’t think he has any new ones so far this year. Stand by for further updates.
I have not been in any special committees as of yet, but I did help extensively with the barbecue set up with Troy. We were originally supposed to just be out 2nd, but we stayed for 3rd and by 4th a majority of the set up was already completed. I also helped a lot with clean up of the back to school dance prior to the dance ending. That wasn’t a committee either, just a good deed. I look forward to joining more committees as the year goes on.
One concern I have is the freshmen bunching together. Maybe they see the seniors as menacing, but personally I don’t think we are scary whatsoever. I will try to include myself more with them so they feel welcome.
I want to compliment Natalie for making the blacklight rally even better than last year. That girl puts in a ton of effort for that event and it really does show when the result is that fantastic rally.
A change that I would like to see is the lowering of the back to school dance ticket prices. I know they really aren’t that expensive, but it seems like they have gone up a lot since my freshman year. The dance is just supposed to be really cheap and fun for everyone, because they are all eligible.
One way that I am making an impact around campus is through my spirit. I have been helping to lead the student section at volleyball games and at the rally, and I have even been dressing up for the games.

Thank the lord homecoming is over, except now we have the tri tip dinner. WOOO!!! Powder puff was run much more smoothly this year thanks to Malery, Anthony and I being much more productive in our work. Instead of figuring out who was doing the various jobs the day before or day of, we were able to figure those out weeks in advance (aside from ticket takers). And we didn’t forget the flags this year either. All in all, the event was run much better than last year. Along with this, we have been keeping the shadow box in the North Gym filled up with volleyball and football articles and what not. It looks pretty good right now, with the season coming to a close.
I am in the Sports Relations committee for my standing committee. Malery and I are the leaders of the Sports Relations committee, with Laila, Royce, Natalie and Anthony in support, and we are there to help Mr. Wright in any way he needs. Last year we hung some sponsor banners, but I don’t think he has any new ones so far this year. Stand by for further updates.
I was in the Beautiful Movement special committee, and I filmed my sister for my portion of the video. It was actually really fun because we bonded and I was able to tell her stuff that I normally don’t go out of the way to say to her. Saying stuff like this makes me feel good because expressing how you feel really helps to get in touch with your emotions. I also brought food for the Kyoto banquet, but I don’t think that was a special committee.
One concern I have is the tension that has been going on inside the class. I was unaware of whatever was going on between the junior class, but apparently there was beef between them the last couple weeks. I really hope that they get that resolved and figure that out because it will help the class to run a lot more smoothly when we can work together in harmony.
Molly and Ana did a fantabulous job with Kyoto this year. The whole event ran very smoothly and all the kids seemed to have a great time when they were at school. I know this is a very complex job and they take it on with ease, so kudos to them.
A change that I would like to see is the forced bonding that sometimes occurs. Personally, I think that we cannot possibly bond with everyone in the class, simply because people do not always clique with one another. As much as we want to branch our wings, people naturally want to be around people that they are similar to, and those are the people who will form groups together.
One way that I am making an impact around campus is picking up trash whenever I see it. Whether I am in the parking lot, in the classroom, or just walking around the campus I try to pick up whatever trash I see and throw it away.

ASB Report November-December 2019

Even with Homecoming far in the rearview mirror, we were still dealing with people turning in jerseys all the way into December. I think that it is so funny that kids won’t turn their stuff in, but as soon as they get put on the bill list they magically find their jersey and it gets turned in the next day. I know there are still a few kids who haven’t turned them in, but now almost all of them are in. The plaques are done, and we will have to do an inventory on the jerseys for next year. We will also be changing out all the sports clippings in the North Gym from volleyball and football to boys and girls basketball.
I am in the Sports Relations committee for my standing committee. Malery and I are the leaders of the Sports Relations committee, with Laila, Royce, Natalie and Anthony in support, and we are there to help Mr. Wright in any way he needs. So far this year he has not asked us for much help in stuff.
In the Holiday Door decorations, my group, Jaydin, Aiko, Anthony, Niki and I all worked together to do the B building and offices. Everyone showed up and we all worked well together. In the CASL Application group, I was with Brendan, Lydia and Avery and our subject was Focus on Character Education. We used the page from last year to draw some ideas and then crafted our own opinion of what our program and school does for character education.
One concern I have is what is to come during election season. We have already had tension in the class so far this year, so I can’t imagine it will be any better when people are competing against each other for a limited amount of spots.
Our whole class did a great job on our presentation to Valley Christian. Mr. Hobbes helping us the day before helped a lot I think, as it gave us very good insight on shortening our slides and better presentation skills. I was proud of our work.
A change that I would like to see is the holiday door decorations going back to a Sunday instead of a Wednesday morning, as it gives us an ample amount of time to complete the job, but also complete the job well in case something goes awry.
One way that I am making an impact around campus is by trying to be a positive influence for others around campus. Especially with our recent success in football, I am in a spotlight even more than usual, so I have to be even more wary about my actions and what I do. Of course, I do always try to hold myself to a higher standard regardless of the situation, but it is even more important now.

ASB Report January 2020
February 12, 2020
Athletic Commissioner
The month of January has been fairly slow for us, but it is starting to ramp up with our second event, dodgeball. We have been keeping up with boys and girls basketball, putting up the newspaper clippings in the North Gym bulletin board. First off for dodgeball, we will be collecting teams until the beginning of March, that way we have enough time to make sure everyone is athletically cleared. We are going to try to have 8 teams in the tournament, and we will get a formal poster printed at the print shop by the fire station, instead of hand making the bracket. Grade checks are no longer important and we will disregard those.
I am in the Sports Relations committee for my standing committee. Malery and I are the leaders of the Sports Relations committee, with Laila, Royce, Natalie and Anthony in support, and we are there to help Mr. Wright in any way he needs. He has kindly given us (I took) his key to the bulletin boards so we have access to them whenever we need it. So far this year he has not asked us for much help in stuff.
There were a few new special committees with the new year starting. My partner in our Valentine’s Hearts was Ana, and we split the hearts in two and each did 25. We got them done on time and just put them up today on Mr. Ruhland and Mrs. Pendleton’s windows. Also, I helped Natalie in making sure all winter sports seniors were accounted for the pizza party that was hosted. Instead of doing flowers, we did the pizza, which I think the kids appreciated a lot.
One concern I have is the lack of participation for next year's class. I anticipated heavy amounts of competition, but instead almost everyone is running unopposed or there are spots that are just open. I know that this won’t affect us this year, but next year it will.
One positive from the past month was the Love Ripon presentation. The projects that we selected all apply to the high school and help benefit our school, which I think is a great place for us to give our community service hours. Aiko, Gracie and Emma did a good job presenting the information as well.
A change that I would like to see would be the freshmen not all sitting together at their own secluded table every day. Morty calls us out for sitting together but then doesn’t say anything to the little freshies looking all innocent in the back by themselves. They don’t get away with being shy just because they are freshmen.
One way that I am making an impact around campus is through helping to tidy up the library during lunches and after leadership is over. I know that having the library dirty is one of Mrs. Ulrich’s biggest pet peeves, so helping her out with that is rewarding. It’s a space that a ton of students use, and they don’t all appreciate it like it should be appreciated.
